Students receive new learning impulses at the Bern Museum Quarter through guided tours, workshops, and exhibitions.
ALPS Alpine Museum of Switzerland
The ALPS offers a varied programme for students, linked to the curriculum and covering highly topical subjects such as climate change and natural resources. As well as guided tours, there are interactive offerings such as the Actionbound Trail and the Swiss Polar Class quiz boxes. Admission is free for school classes up to secondary level 2.
Bern Historical Museum
At the Bern Historical Museum, school groups can gain insights into historical and scientific topics free of charge. Depending on the exhibition, interactive tours, workshops or guided tours are available. The educational team helps students to explore exhibits in more depth and answer any remaining questions. For additional classroom activities, teachers can download materials free of charge.
Kunsthalle Bern
Admission to the Kunsthalle Bern is free for school groups. Exhibitions can be visited independently or as part of an interactive tour. Various workshops encourage young people to engage actively with the artworks on display. For each exhibition, an introductory tour is offered for teachers, providing all the background information they need to prepare for a class visit.
Museum of Communication
Admission to the Museum of Communication is free for school groups, as long as visits are booked at least two days in advance. Students of all ages will gain insights into the topics of communication, digitalisation and media literacy. Workshops provide practice-related experiences. In addition, the museum offers tailored teaching aids.
Natural History Museum of Bern
The Natural History Museum of Bern provides various educational offerings designed to bring learning closer to practice. Admission to the museum is free for school classes up to secondary level 2. Apart from the exhibitions, learning spaces such as the Nature Lab and Geo Lab are available. In addition, in collaboration with the Bern University of Teacher Education (PHBern), the museum regularly offers courses for teachers, providing new ideas for lessons.
PHBern - Bern University of Teacher Education
The PHBern provides selected teaching materials in all subjects and cycles to teachers, educators from the national churches, students, and lecturers. Regularly held events and exhibitions showcase selected materials and their possible uses. Additionally, the teaching workshop can be visited with a school class.
