At the SUPERPOWERS! - Cultural Hackathon at the Museumsquartier Bern (May 23 - May 25, 2024), people with different skills tackle a given challenge and work in interdisciplinary teams to create prototypes for innovative and participatory cultural formats. The winning ideas will be taken up by the institutions of the Museumsquartier Bern and jointly pursued.

The deadline for application is January 28, 2024. A jury will assemble an interdisciplinary
group of participants by the end of February 2024. There are no formal requirements for participation. The SUPERPOWERS! Cultural Hackathon thrives on diverse participants

How does the Cultural Hackathon at Museumsquartier work?

From all applications, we will invite 80 people to the Museumsquartier Bern. Onsite, the participants form interdisciplinary teams. Over two days, the participants exchange their wealth of ideas, viewpoints, and knowledge, and collaboratively develop innovative and participatory cultural formats in record time.

A great closing party, interesting people and a peek behind the scenes of the eleven institutions make the Cultural Hackathon at the Museumsquartier Bern an unforgettable experience.

What is the challenge?

Work in an interdisciplinary team do develop a creative cultural format that considers the strengths of the Museumsquartier Bern in a playful way, break new ground, and bring people into dialog.

How can people with conflicting points of view come together in a playful way?

What can the superpowers of the institutions of the Museumsquartier Bern contribute to this?

The project ideas can go in completely different directions; for example, interventions in public spaces, ideas for new collection approaches and the discovery of the 10 million objects in the Museumsquartier Bern, new event formats, collaborations with people outside the world of culture and education, but also experimental and unexpected concepts.
